Nihilum / Kungen Interview!

September 8th, 2006 by Cascade

After a very tense three days, the most intense race is now officially over. Kel’Thuzad died by the hands of Nihilum, a european horde guild, coming from the server Magtheridon. This is the end of an era in the game as we know it. There will be no more 40 man capped raid dungeons in the game, and we have yet to see how the 25-cap will play out for the raiding guilds out there.

After a very tense three days, with some help from Nessaj over at the Nihilum forums, Kungen – the guild leader of Nihilum – was kind enough to answer some quick questions for Frostshock!

FS!: Ok, for starters, how does it feel being the kings of the last big hill before the raid game changes as we know it right now?

K: What can I say, I was speechless when he died. It’s truly a wonderful feeling! What made it even more wonderful, was that all our guild members gave it all the last 2 days. The whole guild stayed up to 4 AM, just so we could get really far and kill Kel’Thuzad the next day.

FS!: Is Nihilum disappointed about Kel’Thuzad being “so easy” afrer the 4H? What do you think was the key to your fast success?

K: I don’t get the 4H hype, we don’t think they are hard and never did. They are just as much on farm status as Anub. Most guilds just didn’t have 8 warriors … Kel’Thuzad is the most challenging boss in the zone by far. Especially, since a fully buffed raid with flasks/outside buffs wont help that much. I wont go into why though, I don’t wanna spoil the fun.

FS!: What is your message to the peeps, whom say that your kill wasn’t a legit WF, because of the despawn bugs DnT (and you, too) experienced?

K: It’s just random morons posting bullshit, that ain’t true. All US guilds had 1 day advantage on us this week and failed to kill him. He did not despawn for DnT this week. They had 2 full nights so far and still didn’t manage to kill him. Where we just needed 1.

FS!: There was any moment when you thought about stopping or quitting?

K: After our 2x 1% and him despawning on us, I really thought we wouldn’t get world first due to the US advantage. But we never gave up and kept going in full force.

FS!: Tell me something about the best moments in the fights with Kel’Thuzad.

K: I don’t wanna spoil the fight. But when he was at 5% and we had around 30 members alive, then we were sure to win and it was a wonderful feeling.

FS!: Obviously you will be in the Burning Crusade beta, how will Nihilum handle the reduced raid cap and what are your opinions on the direction Blizzard is taking the classes with such specialized talent trees?

K: I have no plans for BC currently and haven’t looked into the talent trees at all. We’ll see when BC gets closer.

FS!: Your message to your fans and supporters?

K: A huge thanks to all “fans”. It’s thanks to them, we kept going so hard after our 2x 1% wipes. We didn’t want to let them down.

FS!: Does Nihilum have any “superstitious rituals” before enganging a new encounter?

K: There is a few players I love to make fun of and I do so every night. But I wont mention any names We do have a secret ritual, but I wont give any more info then this. JUSTIN 4 LIFE.

What else I have left to say? Good job and FOR THE HORDE!
